 The Final Word game review

Hydra -- Tengen, Inc.

Another arcade smash is available now on the Atari Lynx. In Hydra, pilot a lightning-fast speed boat down rivers filled with obstacles, enemies, and bonuses. Don't forget to keep your fuel tank full and don't give up because those supplies must arrive safely everyone's counting on YOU!

Ferrari Man
Very mindful of Roadblasters, only in water. If you like Roadblasters, then you'll like Hydra. An average game--not great, but not bad either. Nice backgrounds.

????
Tengen did a great job with this game. The graphics are very clean and fluid. The control of your boat takes a long time to get used to, but it can be mastered. This game should keep almost anyone busy. Check this one out before you buy it, though.

R.I.P.
Once again Tengen has pulled off a great coin-op conversion. While everything in this game looks and feels like the arcade version, I still don't like the game control enough to rave. Once you get used to it though, it's no problem, and understeering is a trademark of Atari titles that one just has to live with. If you liked Roadblasters then this game is for you.

Salamander
What a weird game...but I like it. Hydra is in many ways mindful of Roadblasters--shoot everything and race like the devil. Scenes such as the riverside weapons shop where the salesman has dreds and a "no checks" sign hanging behind the counter add character to this title. Generally well programmed, Hydra should provide light amusement. It could have used a bit more depth.
