Vid Grid -- Jasmine Multimedia/Geffen

A new twist on the classic tile-shuffling games, Vid Grid challenges players to unscramble live video. Untangle nine different music videos, featuring artists such as Soundgarden, Jimmy Hendrix, Metallica and Aerosmith. Puzzles get progressively more challenging, ranging from simple 3x3 grids to complex 6x6 grids with flipped tiles and inverted video.

Not bad... Well, at least I can now say that I've played at least one good Jag CD title. I'm not sure if this game is enough to justify the platform, but it's well worth checking out. Good music from good bands combined with a challenging puzzle keeps you going, but I recommend you have the memory card before you play this game so that you don't have to keep repeating earlier levels. Playback on the music videos was impressive, there was compression errors evident in both the audio and video, but not enough to distract from game play though. Definitely check this one out.

I think we've all played tile shuffling games before, but this is a really cool twist. The live video makes even the simple puzzles much more challenging. The selection of music was great, too -- so many other games feature only one or two good songs, but I liked virtually everything on the disk. Unquestionably one of the better uses of FMV.
